So what is popular on this blog?
Likes on twitter or linkedin are great and much appreciated 🙏, however, what are you actually viewing?
There is a great video about how Microsoft uses Data Driven Decision making, link in references below 👇
I will be using a slimmed down version of this methodology and make decisions / experiments accordingly. This approach involves collecting quantitative data, analyzing user behavior patterns, and using these insights to inform content strategy and technical decisions.
Show me the data
Below data represents percentage of page views by unique viewers over a specific time period. This data was collected using Azure Application Insights, which provides detailed analytics on user behavior, session duration, and engagement metrics.

- 19.32% O’Reilly vi quick reference
- 15.66% GitHub Projects
- 14.26% AZDO Task version 2 for PP
- 13.83% Azure Developer CLI(azd)
- 10.13% Dataverse data import
- 8.3% Azure B2C - Claims mapping
-
A real life experience story (O’Reilly vi quick reference) from an amazing manager takes the top spot, fascinating but this is no surprize to me.
-
I am surprized that GitHub Co-pilot which I thought was my best blog post on a feature of AI that is new and cutting edge didn’t actually do that well, it got the same number of views as grep vs awk which I didn’t expect at all.
-
I am equally as surprized that GitHub Projects did as well as it has compared to the more technical articles I have posted.
-
I know my articles are usually short, fun and bitter sweet, however its very interesting that Azure B2C didn’t get as many views. My customers for the past year ask about this quite often and unaware of the out of the box features, most likely the audience here is familiar hence the fewer views or interest in this specific feature.
Where y’all from?
Around half of my audience are international, what is interesting is there are more United States readers than Australian, I did not expect that.
This geographic distribution data is valuable for understanding:
- Content timing - When to publish for maximum reach across time zones
- Language considerations - Whether to include region-specific examples or terminology
- Cultural context - Adapting technical examples to be more globally relevant
- Technology preferences - Different regions may prefer different cloud providers or tools
Thanks to all my friends from Africa, Asia, Europe and America 😁

What do you use?
Almost half on mobile and half on desktop, interesting.
This device distribution has important implications for content design:
- Code formatting - Need to ensure code blocks are readable on mobile devices
- Image optimization - Screenshots and diagrams must be legible on smaller screens
- Navigation - Mobile-first design principles become crucial
- Loading performance - Mobile users often have slower connections
The near 50/50 split suggests that technical content is increasingly consumed on mobile devices, which wasn’t the case just a few years ago. This trend reflects how developers and IT professionals are adapting their learning habits to fit busy schedules.

Conclusion 🐒
Obviously not all the data is here, but what is interesting is that I was surprized by the data.
- Real stories applied to the real world about real people are much more meaningful to audience.
- Shorter focused tech articles are better than long ones
- Make your posts relevant to the target audience
- No South American readers, most likely due to blog being entirely in English.
- Use data driven decisions making to drive your business.
Shorter focused tech articles can relate to the attention span currently on social media which could explain the boom in the short focused, less than a minute videos, gifs, posts on linkedin, twitter, tiktok and youtube shorts.
Why am I showing you this, well, that’s because I am re-writing this blog and planning to use a new feature that will use Clarity instead of Application Insights, so all this data will be purged.
Conclusion Monkey Score: 3/5 Average 🍌 bananas
