Why look into another task board?

Well for me working a lot in Azure DevOps or ADO as its commonly referred to in conversions now a days ( I still get confused when someone talks about ADO if they are referring to ADO.NET since I remember doing this from my old days ๐Ÿคฃ).

Anyway I do find that if Agile methodologies are adopted but not understood or some sort of hybrid approaches are applied without measuring through metrics and honest truthful reporting then its just not successful. ๐Ÿ‘€

I think these have a place for sure but I think why not start with something small and build up to the implementing full agile and measure the progress. For this I like GitHub Projects because I can explain it without hundreds of hours of learning agile methodologies first ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

Iโ€™m not saying you shouldnโ€™t, Iโ€™m saying build up to it.

GitHub Projects

So you can have 3 types in this board, cool simple.

1. Issues
2. Pull Requests
3. Notes

You drag on and drop this on the canvas and you know it reminds me of Trello back in the day as well, I loved it because it was simple.

GitHub Project

A quick rundown

  1. You can add a note from here.
  2. This are my issues which I need to get to when I have time.
  3. You can filter the board from here
  4. Add new cards from here which would be issues or PRs.
  5. Add new columns from here but KISS please (Keep It Simple Silly)

I didnโ€™t realize KISS originated from the US Navy, interesting (see below Wiki) and definitely why I am exploring and using this more in my personal and career life.

The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complicated; therefore, simplicity should be a key goal in design, and unnecessary complexity should be avoided - Kelly Johnson (Aircraft engineer)

Conclusion ๐Ÿ’

Conclusion Monkey says continuous improvement is my game so anything that streamlines what I do is worth investing my time and Iโ€™m all in on GitHub Projects.

Check out the interesting new blog posted GitHub - How were using projects to build projects

Stay tuned there is more to come on this topic, thatโ€™s all folks ๐Ÿ‘‹
